No. Bird Atlas images, both realistic plates and hand-drawn paintings, are generated from bird references, not photographed, so colors, posture or details may be off. You can replace any image with your own from More › Correct image on the species page; the original is always kept.
Bird Atlas covers 11,131 bird species, arranged by AviList v2025b. 100 of them are built in and work without a connection; the rest come in 10 offline packs grouped by kinds of birds, and up to three can download at once on iPhone and iPad.
Yes. Find Birds by Photo uses a built-in model (OSEA) that runs on your iPhone or iPad without an internet connection. It suggests a few similar-looking birds to compare against the plates; it is not a final identification.
On Apple TV, Bird Atlas is a full-screen slideshow of wide 4K bird images, shown alone or with name, scientific name, family and a short note, changing every 20, 30 or 60 seconds. 100 birds are built in, and ten wide-image packs together cover all 11,131 species. On Apple Watch it is a bird album that changes every 20 seconds or with a swipe; images come over from your iPhone.
Observations are never sent to the developer. iCloud sync is on by default: when you are signed in with iCloud allowed, observations and corrected images are stored in your own private iCloud and sync across your devices. You can turn it off in the app at any time; new changes then stay on that device, and existing data is not deleted.
The app supports 12 languages: English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Arabic.
